What started in 1963 as a merely auxiliary station of All India Radio Kolkata with a broadcasting strength of 20 Kilo Watts (Medium Wave) has turned into a full-fledged Radio Station since August 1982. At present AIR Siliguri is transmitting on two different wavelengths – AIR Siliguri Primary Channel on 711 Kilo Hertz Medium Wave and AIR Siliguri Commercial Broadcasting Service (Vividh Bharati Seva) on 101.4 Mega Hertz FM.
Enriched by over 450 auditioned voice talents from all over North Bengal, AIR Siliguri today can boast of originating about 500 Hours of programme from its studios. While promoting the various cultures of this region and entertaining listeners of all age groups, AIR Siliguri is also dedicated to educate, motivate and guide the common people with its social service oriented programmes.
